Newborn Hearing Screens

Congenital hearing loss is the most common birth defect (affecting 3 in 1,000 babies). The Center for Disease Control and Washington State Department of Health recommend that all newborns be screened for hearing loss – ideally in the first month of life.

We provide newborn hearing screens to the general public. You do not have to be a current Journey Midwife Services client. Drop in to a screening session listed below, or call our clinic to schedule a hearing screen.

The cost of the hearing screen is $40. Payment with cash, check or card is due at the time of service. If you or your baby are on a health plan through Medicaid, DSHS, or WA Apple Health, we will bill your insurance for the screen so please have your card information available.
